SCGJWD Joins Rail Freight Pilot Project, Connecting Laem Chabang–Nong Khai to Regional Trade Networks

On 18 September 2026, Mr. Bunn Kasemsup, Co-Chief Executive Officer (Co-CEO) of SCGJWD Logistics Public Company Limited (SCGJWD) and Deputy Secretary General of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, attended the launch ceremony of a Rail Freight Transport Pilot Project under the Rail Transport Act B.E. 2568 (2025). The event was held at Port C, Laem Chabang Port, Chonburi Province, and was presided over by Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport.

The pilot project represents public-private collaboration aimed at enhancing the potential of rail freight transportation and encouraging a shift from road to rail. The initiative seeks to support Thailand’s manufacturing, trade, and export sectors while developing rail freight as an efficient and competitive transportation option with seamless connectivity.

A key highlight of the project is its collaborative operating model, which combines a private-sector locomotive operated by TPI Polene Public Company Limited with freight wagons from the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) to transport rubber products for Sri Trang Logistics Co., Ltd.

SCGJWD is responsible for managing the transportation operations along the strategic Laem Chabang–Nong Khai–Laem Chabang route, supporting cross-border trade connectivity to Southern China via Lao PDR.

For SCGJWD, participation in this pilot project reflects the company’s expertise in Multimodal Logistics and its capability to integrate Road–Rail–Port–Cross-border transportation networks. The trial will also provide operational data on costs, transit time, transport reliability, and overall supply chain efficiency, which can support the future development of commercially viable rail freight solutions.

The initiative also aligns with the direction of Green Logistics, as increasing the use of rail freight can provide businesses with additional transportation alternatives, reduce reliance on road transport, and contribute to the development of a more efficient and sustainable logistics network connecting Thailand with regional markets.
